I started this up then fell off due to a few not so great circumstances. During a sparring session I was kneed in the head and later found out that I suffered a concussion.
My doctor told me that I had to sit out from any activities that jarred my head and that I could do very basic aerobic exercises...
With school, church, work, and home responsibilities I haven't been able to rest properly, which is why I wasn't given clearance when I went to my follow up appointment this past week. I've never had a head injury before and dealing with learning about one afterwards is clearly not the way to go. The exhaustion, forgetfulness, headaches...it all sucks.
On top of that, I don't get to train :(
BUT it does get better.
I was watching a video on YouTube about a guy who does BJJ who spoke of isometric exercises and the benefits they bring for one practicing BJJ. Looked up examples (I only knew of planking and those side bridges) to find if it were possible to do a full workout with just that. During my last visit to the doctor I was told that I couldn't do any type of workout if I got tired soon after, if it involved jumping, shaking, weights, hitting, and dang near every movement known to mankind. So shouldn't these isometric workouts be pretty good for me during these times?
I'm so afraid that all of the strength I've gained will slip away if I don't continue to workout while chilling on the sidelines that I'm willing to push myself as far as I safely can.
Tomorrow I plan on calling up the docs office and asking about whether or not this will be acceptable.
I have a good feeling about it :)

Bow On
Hey!
Recently I started taking some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at my job and I thought of journaling how the journey unfolds. When a lady I train with made a joke about me going to post on my BJJ blog I thought, "Yep...that's gotta be done."
Here it is. The beginning of what I hope will be a continuous blog of nothing but honesty surrounding BJJ and all that it brings to my life.
Until next time!
